The Human Resources Manager serves as the functional leader setting policy and direction for the company that will ensure our compliance with all State and Federal employment regulations.  This role will manage a team of HR staff responsible for the administration of all internal HR practices and processes including system access for onboarding, employee relations, leaves/FMLA, benefits administration, unemployment and internal HRIS systems.  This individual will need to use a high level of discretion and independent judgment to ensure all employment practices are managed fairly and consistently across all business units of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure site policies and procedures are in compliance with legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions
  • Evaluate and establish the company salary structure, pay policies, and execute on the pay systems within the company including wage increases and bonuses
  • Review and establish pay practices and pay ranges that help to recruit and retain employees
  • Work with Operations Managers on promotions and adjustments
  • Conduct new employee orientation to foster a positive attitude toward organizational objectives
  • Provide reports for Executive Management team and Finance as requested
  • Lead the annual performance management process that includes employee reviews
  • Establish an in-house employee training system that addresses company training needs including assessments, new employee orientation/onboarding, and management and employee development; coordinates training programs and managers
  • Maintain, utilize, and troubleshoot the HRIS system to process employee changes, policies, etc.
  • Formulate and recommend Human Resources policies and objectives for the company on any topic associated with employee relations and employee rights
  • Partner with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and laws
  • Determine and recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation; leader in Employee Company Culture and Employee Morale
  • Partner with site leader on site retention and engagement strategy with Operations
  • Coach and train managers in their communication, feedback, recognition, and interaction responsibilities with the employees who report to them
  • Lead the development of benefits orientations and other benefits training for employees; open enrollment management and execution
  • Recommend changes in benefits offered, especially new benefits aimed at employee satisfaction and retention
  • Lead company compliance with all existing governmental labor laws and government reporting requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and so forth; maintain minimal company exposure to grievances
  • Direct the preparation of information requested or required for compliance; serve as the primary contact with the company employment law attorney and outside Government agencies
  • Protect the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations; minimize risk for the company
  • Manage compensation equity and adjustment

Qualifications and Skills

  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource, Organizational Development, or related business field preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to improve employee morale through employee engagement (events, community outreach)
  • Excellent active listening, negotiating, and presentation skills
  • Basic knowledge and ability in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Good verbal communication skills (active listening, speak with confidence, use proper etiquette, use appropriate grammar/tone/inflection, display appropriate temperament in conversations, relay information in a concise and logical manner, encourage open exchange of ideas and opinions)
